The one-day content strike is on for this Friday, March 21, from midnight GMT to midnight GMT.
For 24 hours, we will not post or comment to LJ. Not in our own journals, not in communities. Not publicly, privately, or under friends-lock.
This is a protest that will have long-lasting effects, showing up forever in the daily posting statistics.
This is a protest that will not harm LJ in the long run, as leaving LJ might do.
This is a protest that will demonstrate the power of community, as all users unite to support Basic users, the concept of adfree space, and our right to enjoy any interests we choose.
This is a protest that will educate the new owners that LJ is driven by user-created content.
To find out exactly when the strike begins and ends, depending on where you are located, please see this
How Can You Help?
DO post about this in your own LJ.
DO post and comment about it in appropriate communities.
DO turn off LoudTwitter and your RSS feeds for 24 hours.
DON'T forget to get permission from community mods before making an off-topic post or comment about the strike.
DON'T be spammy with your posts or comments about the strike.
DON'T forget to turn your LoudTwitter and RSS feeds back on when the strike is over.
Why Are We Striking?
We are holding the Content Strike because we want the new owners of LiveJournal to better understand the power and resolve of the LJ Community of Users.
We are holding the Content Strike because all of us, Paid, Permanent and Plus users as well as Basic, want to demonstrate our solidarity as a Community of Users. We do not consider Basic users to be freeloaders, we consider them to be valuable content-providers and Friends.
We are holding the Content Strike because we ache to do something to show our displeasure, and commenting on the </a></b></a></a></b></a>
news post just isn't powerful enough!
The strike has four terms:
1. Restore basic accounts for new account creation.
2. Inform users before any change to the site that affects how we use the site or demands on our resources.
3. Run change proposals by the Advisory Board and take their advice into account before implementation of any change.
4. Homophobia, misogyny, and racism must not be a part of the decision making processes about appropriate content of the site, including what user interests are deemed appropriate.
NOTE: We are aware that there may be good business decisions for eliminating Basic accounts. If Basic accounts are to be eliminated, though, that action should be taken only after approval of the Advisory Board and consultation with the LJ Community of Users.
Will This Make Any Difference?
The protests are making a difference. Within the last three hours (as of 3pm March 17, '08), the censored interests have been restored! If you look at the Popular Interests page, you will once again see the formerly filtered "fanfiction", "depression", "bisexuality" -- even "faeries". LiveJournal is once again presenting its true face to the world, not a sanitized blandness.
Please continue to spread the word about the Content Strike. We are not merely consumers. We are a Community of Users, and we will be heard.

This whole thing started, not the actual inflamatory posts themselves, but the attention-thereof, becuase of a post I made.
Therefore, in the attempt at bringing things to an end, I will start at the beginning.
Like I said before:
Get over it.
...
If you read something, and think it's about you, do some friggin reflection. Think "why am I feeling this way? Is it because I'm insecure about the thing this person is talking about?"
..
I'm sick of this. Everybody needs to stop. If person A is bitching about person B, don't you think person A would have *said something* to person B about it already? Get over it, person B!
..
The guy at church camp said we assume people are talking about us because we're conceited. We think of ourselves as the center of the universe, therefore everything has to be about us.
I resolve we stop that. Right here and now.
Again. If your first instinct is to assume that it's about you, ask yourself why you're thinking/feeling that way. Maybe you'll learn something interesting about yourself, about your relationships, about your little sphere and relatively insignificant corner of the world.
Because on the grand scheme of things, we're all pretty insignificant.
You start looking at it this way, and I'll do the same.
Let's have a happier tomorrow.

Dear People On My Friends List:
If he's making you worry, he's not good enough for you. And I'm probably willing to kick his ass.
If he blows you off, Fuck Him. Not literally, though. He's not worth worrying over.
If one party loses respect for the other party in ANY relationship, it's gonna go downhill fast. Do a self-respect check. Make sure you've got it. Good. Now make sure he respects you. If he doesn't, sweetly show him the door until he finds some respect for you.
I cut people out of my life / friends list like it was goin out of style. Obviously, I don't think you're an ass. (That's just a disclaimer 'cause I'm bitchin.)
If you let someone treat you bad, they're going to keep doing it. Because they can get away with it. It's human nature. Just visualize that little five-year-old that's pushing his mommy's buttons to see what he can get away with.. Yeah, that's the picture.
Relationships aren't supposed to make you unhappy. Relationships are supposed to be the yummy chocolate frosting on your ultra-sweet life.
And I'm seconding the Public Service Announcement. (

Basically: If he makes you cry, HJNTIY.

Side note: I took the Scott-drama post offline because it was the booze talking. So.. uhm.. thanks to the person who posted on it, that was really sweet. After sobering up and talking about things (once I got back into normal headspace), everything pretty much got sorted out.

I'm engaged!
YAY!
We went to dinner at Nikz (the rotating restaurant in the city.) Scott said "there's something I want to show you", reached into his jacket pocket, and pulled out.. a lighter. What a winner. After dinner, we went to the lighthouse at Lake Hefner and he asked me. I don't remember much after that, except for fumbling with the box.. You'd be amazed how difficult to open a little box can be. Now I'm wearing a very pretty ring. Yay.....
(I was going to upload a pic of the ring, but I can't find the usb cable for my camera so you're out of luck.)
p.s.: I decided to finally upload that bugger of an animation I was working on before, that I stopped working on bc I was afraid Scott would get the wrong idea.. But I 'm having a problem with tweeing it. A little frustrating, yes. If anyone's a photoshop genius, I would love you forever if you'd FIX IT. :*
p.p.s.: I know who my MOH is going to be, and I've got one bridesmaid, but after that.. GAH. I just love you allllllllllll so much. =\

So, here's the basic run-down, in case I decide to ever go friends-only with this journal.
I've had the same journal for ages. I've been the same person for ages. Slowly, I've started to decide that I wasn't very comfortable with the person, the life I was leading.
I'm going to start some massive personal upheaval over the next.. oh, I don't know how long. However long it takes.
I want to be a better person.
I want to master the chen art of looking at another and thinking "I art thou", that we are all interconnected. I want to live a life that I could be proud of, externally and internally, but not have pride.
I think that about covers it.
